How a nuclear station works?

Principally a nuclear power plant works by generating electricity by means of a controlled chain reaction that splits the atoms and thus releases energy. Uranium is the main fuel used in this type of nuclear power plant and is processed into fuel rods. The fuel rods are placed in a reactor vessel, where the fission process occurs, producing heat. The released thermal energy is used to heat water into steam at high pressure and temperature. This steam turns a turbine that is connected to a generator, which transforms the mechanical energy of turning the turbine into electrical energy. Finally, the remaining steam exits through the chimneys without any contamination.
